We continually strive to enhance our personal education. We do this by adding and maintaining industry designations in the fields of retirement, investment management and financial planning through training and continuing education.
Certified Financial PlannerTM (CFP®)
Mark Swingle has held the distinguished designation of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER TM since 2000. Timothy Huynh obtained his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 2019. Obtaining the CFP® designation is a rigorous feat. It demands the appropriate education, relevant experience, and first-rate ethics.
The unfortunate reality is that anyone can call themselves a “financial planner”. Many people believe all financial planners are “certified”, however this is not true. Only CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERSTM have completed extensive training and are required to value and adhere to specific standards established by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. The Code of Ethics includes Integrity, Objective Advice, Competence, Fair Treatment, Privacy, Professionalism, and Diligence.
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®)
The Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) designation is a professional accreditation given by the American-based CFA Institute to financial and investment professionals. The CFA Institute is made up of over 150,000 members worldwide. The CFA designation is the highest distinction in the investment management profession. The charter provides a strong understanding of advanced investment analysis and real-world portfolio management skills. To become a CFA charter holder, one must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, have 4 years of professional work experience and pass 3 levels of exams, each of which requires a minimum of 300 hours of study.
Dan Song passed his CFA® exam in 2019.

Academy of Preferred Financial Advisors (APFA)
Mark Swingle has been a member of the APFA since 2011. Prior to the pandemic, Mark and the WFP team attended many APFA conferences to receive practice management education, as well as new and relevant information that can impact client tax or investment goals. We look forward to attending additional APFA events as the world continues to reopen. Learn more about APFA
The Academy of Preferred Financial Advisors (APFA) membership is solely an indication that our financial advisors attend training provided by the APFA. Working with an advisor who is a member of APFA cannot guarantee investment success or that financial goals will be achieved. There can be no assurance that working with a member of APFA will produce or achieve better results than working with an advisor not affiliated with APFA. Advisors who participate in the APFA pay a fee to belong to the program. APFA is not affiliated with Westfield Financial Planning and is not sponsored or endorsed by TDAmeritrade.
